Work Assessment / LCWRA

I have a work assessment in a few weeks to assess my capability for work. I am on the waiting list for autism assessment but this can take 40 weeks. The only diagnosis I have is depression and anxiety, they suspect I have a personality disorder with psychosocial impairment. Worried I don’t have enough formal evidence to demonstrate I am unable for work related activities. I have no mobility issues at all. I need 15 points to get the lcwra group. I hope from my evidence they will see the substantial potential risk if I was placed in the fit for work category. Has anyone with mental health issues have any advice for the lcwra assessment? Thanks

I it was a requirement of UC to complete the work assessment, I don’t think there was an option for me not to apply?

That.

Exactly.

I don't think @headpillowhit has much knowledge of how UC's Work Capability Assessment process works.

Once you've told them you're sick and provided medical evidence via a fit note you have to do a WCA form. The only exception is if you've got an SR1 form as approaching end of life.

Even if you're on Chemo for cancer you have to do a bit of form filling to get the money you're entitled to.

Thank you for this! I was beginning to think the additional payment was coming from @headpillowhit from the responses!

@DWPnewbieUC my pleasure. It's good it's on the phone. Going there face to face is really horrible. Last one they made me wait two hours and I was in tears, I vomitted in the street as soon as I left the building!
Just basically only say negative things about yourself. I know that's depressing but you have to think of it like the reverse of a job interview.
But the assessors I've had for this and PIP have always been really nice and kind. Tell them up front if your feeling very nervous or anxious.
Lastly, please don't worry. It's not fun but once it's over with you'll be so relieved.

That is a great way to look at it, the reverse of a job interview - I will defo bear that in mind

I get pip standard rate so the evidence I sent for that was the same I sent with uc50 form so hopefully it will demonstrate my inability to work

The criteria for both is different

As above, PIP is about your ability to do activities related to daily living and/or mobility with points awarded for those things you cannot do or need help etc with.

The WCA is also points based but around your ability to do tasks related to work or work related activity. Similar to and with an element of overlap with PIP but getting one doesn't guarantee you will get the other.

Receiving PIP means nothing really as so many people who get PIP can and do work.

True but there is considerable overlap between the descriptors for PIP and those in the WCA.

I have a mh diagnosis as well as physical issues.

On the form there is a box you can tick to let them access your medical records. I ticked it and they clearly had because they asked about things I'd forgotten to put on the form.

I had prepared in advance examples of situations where my mh issues had caused problems (some significant) at work.
