Will I be sanctioned on universal credit for leaving second job?

Hi guys,
looking for some advice please. I have worked 25 hours a week for years, 4 months ago I lowered my hours to just 10 per week to take on a second job of 20 hours per week. I’m struggling with the second job. It’s a home care role. I’m not always getting my hours, still haven’t been given a contract and some weeks they are constantly hounding me to cover sickness that I cannot do because I have 3 children and already work whatever I can around them. My hubby works full time too so I also work around his hours.
I have recently found out we are expecting our 4th baby and physically the care role is hard going while struggling with sickness etc. although risk assessments have been done, they are still sending me to clients that involve a lot of manual handling. Others have commented that they shouldn’t be asking me to do a lot of what I am being pregnant.
so me and my hubby have been talking about perhaps me leaving the second job and just doing the other job that is 10 hours per week while pregnant, and if they can offer me any extra shifts then il do them also. We receive universal credit which is only a small top up at the moment. Will they sanction us if I leave the second job? Or given all of the above will that be ok? Any help would be massively appreciated

As long as your partner earns more than £1437 a month (or within your assessment period) you’ll be absolutely fine to leave and look for more work.

You’re only sanctioned if you quit with nothing lined up and you make no effort to find more paid employment.

If he doesn’t earn that much does your wage top it up to that?

@Cadela
thanks for replying :)
he is self employed and earns over his minimum income floor each month usually around 1600 after deductions and expenses (his minimum income floor is 1556). My 10 hours per week also bring is 540 a month.

You should be absolutely fine then.

I would pop a note in your journal to just let them know so they’re aware and then do a change of circumstance as soon as you quit so you don’t end up with an overpayment.
