State pension and contracting out

So people who already reached pension age
Or anyone who knows?
What affect did contracting out make.
Ive 10-11 years contracting out.
I presume it stopped for me when i started getting child benefit?

Is the reason they can tell us because it is balanced out by paying more years now?

Annoyingly i cant go back far enough to pre 2003_to fill my years of gaps from uni etc

Contracting out is a minefield. Very complicated. Post 2016 nobody could contract out so any years you work or receive child benefit post April 2016 count. If you were contracted out prior to that your pension will be reduced. The website 'this is money' may be helpful if you search it. Receiving child benefit prior to 2016 will not protect you if your pension contributions were contracted out prior to that.

If you sign into your Government Gateway account you can see exactly what impact and contracted out years have had on your state pension. As a teacher from 1991 onwards, I actually need 44 year’s contributions to receive a full state pension now! Luckily, I’m 66 next year and will have 44 years by then.
