Universal credit

I will be calling universal credit tomorrow but I thought I'd ask here too before I call.

Before I went on maternity leave I worked full time and planned on going back full time after 9 months, however unfortunately I suffered extremely with post natal depression becoming a first time parent and a single mom because I left when I found out I was pregnant due to domestic violence, but was told I couldn't have children so it was a LOT to deal with all at once.

Back to the point, I've spoke to my work place (I'm a civil servant) and they have offered me to take the full 12 months maternity to get myself back 100% so I don't have the pressure of returning to work so soon (I'm meant to go back October) however it will be 0 pay for the last three months.... I get universal credit top ups anyway but would universal credit increase to cover the wages I lose for the last 3months maternity if I took it?

Your UC would be the standard elements that you are entitled to. There will be no deductions as there are no wages.
There won’t be any sanctions etc as you will still be on maternity leave.

It won't increase to make up lost wages as when you are working or being paid smp you get a work allowance and UC reduces on a taper, so you will be significantly worse off not working. As above comment you will just get the total UC on your statement, so total of standard and child element and rent element if you get that.
