Can anyone tell me what will happen to my UC when my child starts school?

I earn £1030 a month on a 18 hour contract.
I am a single mum to two children, one aged 7 one aged 4.
Youngest child starts school in sept.
I currently get a top up on my pay from UC which also contributes to my rent.

I've fallen down a dark hole on the internet and can't find the answer. Am I going to need to start working 25 hours when he starts school? What is the ADT as that suggests you need to earn just £880 (not exact figure I know!).

I'm in a massive panic! I can't pick up any extra hours with my current employer, who I have worked for and worked up with for the past 13 years. I also don't have the capacity to work any more as I have no childcare support from anyone apart from my mum who is elderly and struggling! Ahhh! Panicking! Have I misunderstood this?

What does the UC calculator tell you? Your situation will be individual based on rent etc so run it through the calculator first to get an idea before panicking.

You earn over the AET so you will be left alone and not forced to work more hours. You earn enough.

I believe it is £896.

5ha k you both! I haven't tried the UC calculator? I'll take a look!

I was getting confused about this £800 threshold figure... because everywhere I looks suggests that when your child turns 5 you need to work 25 hours but at minimum wage that is more then the threshold figure?
