Child Disability Dilemma

Hi .
New here so hope I am doing this correctly!
I share parenting with my ex,split roughly 50/50.
We are usually on very good terms.
My 14 year old daughter is autistic, diagnosed 2 years ago.
She has been self harming and attempted suicide twice in past 5 months.
I had never even thought of Child Disability Payment(we are in Scotland) till a friend mentioned it.

So,I got an online form to do the application and began filling it in with as much detail as possible with help from advice websites.
I got in touch with my ex to see what they thought and if there was anything wrong or missing.

They reacted angrily which I found really odd.

Anyway,it turns out they had actually applied and been receiving the benefit since at least April.

After a lot of requests to see the award letter, they sent photos .
However, there is no mention of when the application was begun or receipt of backpayments.
Do the award letters normally show this kind of info?

Oh,and to make it worse,my daughter was awarded less than she should get because the form missed out lots of pertinent info and got so many things wrong .
e.g. not even putting in that she has been diagnosed autism for 2 years

My mind is spinning with it all.
Feel let down by ex and saddened.
Feel for my daughter, when she should be getting more

I want to to the best for her but fear what a fallout with my ex would mean.

And daughter has covid and not eating anything for past 2 days.

💙

If you share residency 50: 50 then ask him for half the money. the award will start from the date he made the application.
If her needs have changed or you don't think the award is correct then you can report a change of circumstances but they will look at the whole award again so it is a risk. If doing this you should make sure you have good medical evidence to back up what you are saying on the form.

So,my ex has finally admitted receiving Child Disability since end of March and "has spent the lot"(approx £1300 and hardly any of it on our daughter. )

😢

How often does he have her? If it's 50/50 then he's just as entitled to apply as you but obviously absolutely terrible that he hasn't spent the money on her
