When Noa Khamallah recently tried to pay cash for popcorn and soda at Yankee Stadium, his almighty dollars struck out.

The stadium’s concession stands no longer take cash. An employee directed him to a kiosk that could convert his greenbacks into plastic. Khamallah, 41 years old, fed $200 into the reverse ATM, which subtracted a $3.50 fee and spat out a debit card with a balance of $196.50.

From ballpark hot dogs to parking tickets, more cash payments are coming with a fee.

There used to be charges for paying by card. I'm failing to see the point of your message. I have some conspiracy nut friends that are 'cash only' so the government doesn't track them or the illuminati have the power to close our banks down in the dystopia to come, they aren't sheeple blindly walking into govt control. 🙄 They do work and pay taxes, so the govt already knows what they earn.

It costs more money for a lot of businesses to handle cash than to take card. Not to mention the security aspect of having cash on the premises

Totally agree. The people touting that cash is king have no idea of the costs and risks involved. Having worked in finance of national retailers, reconciling those cash balances are horrendous.
