No photo id for universal credit meeting

I have been asked to migrate over to universal credit from tax credits and I filled in the online form this morning.

I have no photo id and my meeting is on Monday morning to prove my id.
Does anybody know what I should do? I have loads of the id from the second list and a voter id letter with my picture on.
I have my birth certificate and an old p45 from my last job plus HMRC letters.

Would it be okay for me to take along as many letters as I can and see if that will help?

Take everything you can. If they say it's not enough, just apply for a provisional licence?

UChelppls · 14/06/2024 14:26

I will look at that, thank you

You don't need to pay for a provisional, you can get a Citizen Card free of charge.

I believe they should accept your voting form with your picture on though, as those are not issued unless you can prove who you are?!

Take what you can. Although DWP would like you to have photo ID it's not a requirement.

If they cannot satisfy themselves of your ID from photos ID/documents they have an interview process where they match you with various records etc.

A PPs have said, take what you can, eg birth certificate and HMRC letters etc. If you are already on tax credits then they may ask you some questions about those - the sort of thing that only the real you would know - to help confirm that you are you.

I went to my meeting today and everything was fine. They used birth certificates, council tax letter, bank card and p45/60 as evidence.

The man was really nice and it was over within 15 minutes.

They don't accept citizen cards. I have been told you can take other types of I'd to a job center appointment or answer a list of questions over the phone.

Thats good to know I've got birth cert, marriage cert, council tax and bank card so I should be OK.

There's pretty short list of what they will accept as photo ID. Passport, Driving Licence or a few others.

If you don't have those no problems, they have their ways of finding your official footprint.

Even if you're the kind of guy who was never able to get off your Mam's apron strings, have no ID at all, and only claim when she goes into a home they will find something.

The only one I've ever seen with a flat NO had no National Insurance number; we think his birth was never registered.
