Help after redundancy

Hi all, Im hoping that I can get some pragmatic non-judgy help please with my predicament. I was made redundant at the end of last year from a well paying six-figure job. I left with some cash to help tide me over for a bit but that has now been spent on bills and Im coming to the first month where I have nothing left. To be clear I haven't spent willy nilly but it has taken me much longer to find another job than I thought. The thing is I have no idea where to start. I am confident that I will get something, but it just takes time. Im already in process for a few roles so Im expecting this predicament to be in the short term. Has anyone been in this position before and could offer any help and advice please? Many thanks.

If you're looking at benefits there are on line calculators available.

If you have less than £16k in cash/assets excluding the home you live in the Universal Credit is a possibility. New Style Job Seekers is another.

If you want to speak to, or chat on line with, somebody then Help to Claim would be a good start.

It's not a fun position to be in, even if you know it won't last. Have you a plan for paying the bills even with such depleted assets? Could you contact the mortgage company, council tax etc and ask for a payment holiday? Do you have a fallback position re help from family? Could you rent out a room short term - up to £7500 a year is completely tax free?

Council Tax reduction for low income should be available if you qualify for means tested benefits.

Not sure what your housing situation is but under the Mortgage Charter you could request 6m on interest only if you have a mortgage?
