What to do after you've been in a minor accident?

Looking for advice on what to do after a very minor accident that wasn't my fault.
The guy overtook me on a roundabout to exit, not my fault but both cars are damaged. We exchanged insurance and I don't know what to do now.

Is there a point for me contacting my insurance? He will most likely contact his as he was very adamant to get my details. I don't think I want my car repaired, it's an old car and I will probably sell it for parts later.

Any advice is appreciated, never been in a situation like this.

Thanks

Not an expert but I believe you are obligated to inform your insurance company about an accident regardless of whether you intend to claim or not

Just let the insurers handle it; that's what you pay for.

I just don't want insurance to go up even if I don't claim the money for repair.

You must report it to your insurers. If you don't, and his insurers contact yours, they'll know you had an accident without telling them. They could then cancel your cover and you'd have trouble getting cover with any insurance company in the future.

Here is what you should do: report it to insurers, because if he does it and you don't, you'll have your policy voided, and you don't want that.

Once reported, your insurance will increase regardless of whether you decide to claim any money or not. So my advice would be to claim each and every penny you're legally entitled to. I was just involved in a minor crash myself recently too, and I claimed the last penny I legally could. Insurers, bookies and the banks are the last companies on this planet you should ever feel sorry for.

Thank you, i will report first thing tomorrow morning. Do they look into anything? Does it matter if it was my fault or not regarding increase?

As regards premiums there are two factors in play.

Firstly the fact you've been in an accident may lead the insurer to regard you as an increased risk so it will raise the underlying premium.

Secondly you may lose no claims discount. While no fault accidents may not affect NCD strictly speaking it's no claims discount not no fault discount.
