Maths was never my strongest subject so I was wondering if any of you lovely people cud possibly help me work out how much I get over the year whilst working term time only, so I get paid for the weeks I work obviously and for the summer holidays and I get the UK national minimum wage £11.44ph, and if you can what my universal credit payment wud roughly be each month, I'm wanting to know what money is going in and what's going out and then come up with a budgeting and saving plan
I wud be extremely grateful if anyone cud help me I will appreciate any information and advice
Many thanks to you lovely lot.🙂

Would depend on what hours you work .

MikeRafone · 12/05/2024 12:45

how many weeks are the summer holidays?
how many weeks a year will you be paid for?
how many hours a week will you be working?
during the summer holidays how much per week will you be paid?

If you are working term time only and 40 hours per week

40 x 11.44 = £457.6 x 40 weeks?= £18,304 divided by 12 = £1,525

will your wages be equally divided by months of the year - so pay spread out across the year, or will you only be paid during the month you work? This would effectively make a difference to your UC

11.44 x number of hours worked per week x 44.6 (I think - this is term time only plus statutory holiday entitlement).

This would probably be averaged over 12 months so you get the same amount of money each month. You'd then need to pay tax, NI and pension contributions, your take home can be calculated at:

UC would depend on your circumstances, rent, number of DC, any disabilities so you'd have to put your details into a calculator:

Some people say that these are inaccurate, but that shouldn't be the case given that they're government recognised and from official organisations.

Fun Thank You GIF by Carawrrr

To each of you who replied to my post thank you so much i really appreciate your help and advice, so I work 16hrs per week and I'm on the national minimum wage of £11.44ph, I don't get paid during half term, easter holidays, over the Christmas period etc but I do get paid when the school closes for the summer, with it being term time work I'm not to take any time off when the schools are open so then the holidays ive accumulated over the school year I take them during the summer holidays so that I've got a wage coming in each week, that was my only concern when taking the job as I know during any of the school holidays if you are wanting to book a holiday the prices go up by quite a bit however I had one booked before I started so by rights they have to honour them days but again I'll not receive a wage........sorry for the long reply I'm just trying to explain how it is at my place of work and hoping that someone can work out what my wages wud be if it was spread over 52 weeks instead of just seeing what I get during the academic year, when I tried working it out i got several different amounts for several different hours worked, and when I asked on Google the explanation of how to work it out seemed easy enough but then further down the on the same page it then read that the example given was wrong .
Again I apologise for the essay if someone can give me an answer I'd be extremely grateful and im also grateful to those who took the time to help me and offer their advice
Many Thanks To You Lovely Lot

If you work in a school you get 'rolled up' holiday pay. You will earn 11.44 X 16 X 44.6 (39 weeks of term plus 5.6 holiday weeks). This is divided by 12 to give you an equal payment each month. (You'll still need to deduct tax, ni, pension etc)

£8,164 per year = £680.25 per month, less any pension contributions. No tax or NI payable on that as it doesn’t meet the thresholds.

can’t advise on UC.
