Hi

long story short I am in a dire situation. Lots of debt
I owe my mum 3k which I need to pay I can’t not pay it

I am wondering whether a dro would be right. Due to my debt I am
in an overspend and a h month but if you take away my debt I would have £600 disposable income each month
foes this mean I would mot qualify for a DRO?

Is that your only debt?

If not wat are your other debts?

Having £600 available every month wouldn’t make you ineligible for a DRO. As long as you have debts of less than £30k and savings / asset (eg car) worth less than £2k

However, I don’t think you will be allowed to prioritise the debt to your mum - that will go into the pot and be paid back in line with your other debrs

It was depends what the £600 needs to cover. If that's what's remaining after all your bills and essential costs are paid, then no, you wouldn't be eligible.

Even if you were eligible, you would have to include the family debt - it wouldn't be accepted that you could pay one debt in full and have the rest written off.

You need to go through an intermediary to consider a DRO. A debt adviser will let you know if you're eligible once you've gone through your budget with them. There may be other options for you to consider as well.
