Need this advice on credit card plaese
over serval years I have only one usual credit card with my back which I use for day to day expenses and pay off monthly it has limit of 1500
i now came to know about 0% credit card and thought if u apply and get one with limit of 10 k then if I car breaks down then I will have access to money quickly to buy another car; this card I intend to keep only for this specific purpose nothing else ; but u want to know car dealers take payment via credit card and if not there is no point in me going through the hassle , any ideas thanks in advance

Some car dealers accept payment on credit cards. I would double check the deal you are getting 0% tends to be an introductory offer that starts from the market moment you receive the card not from when you first spend.

it would be better for you to apply when you are about to make the purchase not just incase you think there may be an emergency

Many car dealers won't take credit cards due to high fees, probably due to credit card companies wanting to offset the cost of section 75 protection if the car you buy turns out to be a dud.

It could cost them about £200 to accept a credit card payment while a debit card is pennies.

You could look for a card that does a cheap offer for cash withdrawal or alternatively build up and carry a permanent 0% debt by putting all your normal spending on a credit card that is offset against a savings balance to be used as a car fund if needed but that would require discipline and ongoing maintenance.

I've definitely paid a deposit for a car using credit card and then the rest of the balance with a debit card which would give me full section 75 protection so I don't think that's an issue.

I really really wouldn't advise using a credit card in this way unless you fully understand the T&C's. If it's 0% for a period of time I'm pretty sure you would have to have paid it off by that otherwise you will get charged £££ in interest, a lot more than just taking a bank loan. Same if you miss or are late for a payment.

Also as PP said the deal will expire so you can't just keep the 0% deal just in case, you would be better off applying for the card as and when you need it.
