Good afternoon

Any good tips on PIP and LCwRA assessments?

I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, ME and severe mental health: I have so far been signed off since beginning of April, and now u til end of May.

I work currently 25 hours a week at a school.

With my son receiving HRC DLA I am as a single parenting really struggling and I really am stressing about passing the two assessments.

I have a PIp telephone consultation next week (apparently these are better than face to face) ? And then haven't heard if LCWRA will do an assessment yet. After filling in LCWRA though I feel that I could have added more to the PIp form:

I want to still Try and work something to a degree but I just neeed the pressure taking off the need to if I am having a bad flare and my son needs me

I guess it could be difficult to get a PIP award if working 25 hours in a school although I am helping one of my work clients currently to try to do this. PIP is a benefit you can claim whilst working but I'm struggling to see how you might score points on the descriptors although I guess it depends what job you do in a school. PIP assessment will ask questions based on what you wrote on the PIP form - can you wash and dress yourself, cook a simple meal, communicate and mix with others, manage medications. can you do these things safely, within a reasonable time frame and repeatedly as necessary ? Personally I don't think it's always better to have a phone appointment. The key is good medical evidence which explains how your condition affects you and you need to meet the descriptors for the majority of the time so it depends really how often you have flare ups. The work capability assessment considers whether you are limited in what type of work or hours of work you can do.
Sorry just re-read your post and seen you are currently signed off which will to some extent show you are not coping with work currently. Hope it all goes well.
