Wills Vs Trusts - keeping it in the family.

Hello MN
Does anyone have experience of handing a will or trust for someone?
I have a will in place however my brother has recently got married and they did not have a pre nup in place. His new wife is very reluctant to sign a post nup now.

I have left everything in my estate to my brother and I want to ensure that this is protected and stays within my blood family and that she does not have claim to anything I own.

Are trusts overly complicated and expensive?
I would really appreciate any advice from anyone who has had to deal with trusts vs wills.

Thank you!

If you've got that much money to protect, do you not think it would be worth paying for correct legal advice from an appropriately qualified lawyer rather than asking on the Internet?

Frankly, I think you need some qualified advice... I do not think you have a sizeable amount, as you would not ask on MN. A trust would probably be the best option. It is not surprising that she does not want to sign a post nup, but it is unreasonable to think that just out of marriage, she should have rights to your estate

Not really something to ask a new Sil to do, she must be quite upset.

Quietly see a good solicitor if you must but definitely don't discuss what yiu actually do.
