Anonymous gifting

wondering if there is any way, apart from N envelope full of cash, of gifting money anonymously?

I have a neighbour + close friend who is, through absolutely no fault of her own, absolutely drowning at the moment (legal bills for a child who got in to trouble). She would never ever ask me for it + she wouldn’t accept it if I offered. But she’s physically disabled + working absolutely insane hours driving Uber + childminding to earn the extra cash she needs.

My Husband and I have known her for decades, we love her, we see how hard life is at the moment and what a painful uphill battle she is fighting. We are also fortunate that we could give it to her without it impacting us beyond our holiday choices.

Is there any way of giving it anonymously without it being extremely creepy or being flagged for money laundering? I know I can’t just click and make her problems go away, but we’d love to help without her ever feeling beholden to us / like she owes us anything in return.

I think the problem with that is that the "mystery" of who it is starts to grow legs and take over.

Surely far better to say look, we will pay your weekly groceries/car MOT - or say you'll set up a fund for legal bills, not naming anyone or giving any details of the situation - then just fund it yourself?
