Feeling fed up and low about money tonight

Hi,

Feeling fed up and low tonight regarding my money and budget.

I got paid yesterday. I am a one income household - just me and 2dc. Work full time and also do a bit of extra work at home in the evenings.

It's the day after payday and all of the bills etc have gone out. I have just checked my account and I have £846 left until the 25th April. This had to buy food, diesel and everything for kids. There seems to be an expense every month.

After I have done the shopping, fuelled the car, paid for the extra curricular activities and done stuff with the kids, I am lucky to get to week three of the month with more than £50 left in my account. So fed up of this.

Does anyone else feel this way? What do you have left after bills to live off? I know that some people will say "don't compare", "why do you need to know" and I respect that, however I am feeling rubbish tonight so if you don't want to answer then that's fine, but please just ignore my thread.

It’s horrible to be so worried about money.
a few years ago things weren’t so bad but I’ve pretty much got £30 until the 10th April. Bills are paid and food is stocked but there’s no wriggle room for extras or treats. I only have1 child but can imagine 2 is worse.
It has to get better!
Have you checked you’re claiming any benefits you may be entitled to?

Thanks for posting. I am not eligible for anything other than Child benefit. I am sorry to hear that you are also feeling financial stress.

Try not to worry too much. I know things feel tight but you do have some money to live off. After bills I have about £600 and this has to cover all living costs for me and ds. I know how stressful it feels though

The cut in national insurance means your take home pay will rise a little from next month.

You say 'there seems to be an expense every month' but are you planning for these and putting money away?

Have you reviewed your budget to see if you have everything at the best price and aren't spending money on things that don't add value your life?

Making a few tweaks can add up to a noticeable amount. Eg never pay for more than one streaming service at a time. Have one and when you get bored of it, cancel it and sign up to a different one.

Pay for all you food, diesel and any other purchases on a cashback card for free money. Likewise run a second bank account and switch it through all the offers for the incentive, you could make about £1000 over time by doing this.

Try and find free or cheap things to do over the Easter holidays or can you even have a clear out and sell things?
