Hi I’m hoping someone with experience can help me. I was on pip and was due transferred to adp. I suffer with my mental health as well as arthritis. When I applied for pip I was in the dark about the process and outcomes etc. I kept the info I provided basic and was awarded mobility standard. Since then my conditions have worsened so much. I did the change of circumstance form for adp and included how my condition has changed etc and how it all effects me. I didn’t have any supporting documents as all my communications with doctors etc are done over the phone. I provided my gps details in the hope they can contact and get any info they need. Am wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation what the process was, time scale etc and the outcome. Any info would greatly help with the worry I have over the process. Thanks in advance.

I chased up my change of circumstances a week or so ago and was advised they are taking 6-8 months so don’t expect anything soon.

Really that long? 6-8 months of worry then

I was in exactly the same situation as you and it took two weeks short of a year for my claim to be settled. I think things have speeded up a bit now.

Make sure you include medical evidence for your needs, I found that I scored points for everything that was in my doctors’ notes, but 0 for anything that was just backed up by my partner. I ended up getting 1 point less than I would need to get higher rate care, and if they had given me the minimum for even one of the care needs that weren’t listed in my medical notes I would have easily got high rate care.

i don’t get the impression they put much weight on evidence from people other than medical professionals, but that may just be my experience.

I should add that I was on high rate mobility with DWP and the transfer added standard rate care, so it went well for me. I decided not to contest them not awarding me points for the things that weren’t on my medical records because it had taken so long up to that point.

i still don’t have my full back pay, but that is down to DWP and not SSS. In general everyone I spoke to (with one exception) was cheerful, helpful and understanding.

Thank you very much for your reply it helps a lot. Do you mind me asking if they contacted you during your time of waiting and if so what that process was? Did you discuss with your doctor that they would be contacting them ? Not sure if I should. Just worried a bit as although my doctor is aware of my a situation they don’t see us day to day and how it effects us.

@Whatevershallidowithmylife will they make you pay the pip back in the 6-8 months it takes to process you if they deem you are no longer entitled to it/reduce your rate? This could be from the date you submitted the COC form? This could be horrendous for so many!

SandysMam · 26/03/2024 16:01

Not trying to panic you, just wondered if they mentioned this!

KADx · 26/03/2024 18:56

They didn’t say anything about that they just said the payments won’t stop and will continue until they look at my case and a decision is made.

@SandysMam i asked this question and they said no repayment if it was changed/stopped.

Ah that’s good! Thanks for updating!
