I'm about to sell a foreign property, & will be paying the equivalent of CGT in that country.
Will I still have to pay CGT in UK ?
If so , can I offset the foreign CGT as a cost for the UK calculation, please?

You need to check whether the other country has a double tax treaty with the UK.

If yes, then typically the other country tax payment can be deducted from the UK tax payment on the same transaction, up to the max of the UK tax payment. That is, if the UK tax is lower, you won't pay any tax in the UK (but won't get a refund either). But if the UK tax is higher, you'll pay the difference in the UK.

To be able to get this offset you will need a confirmation of tax paid in the other country.

@filka Thanks very much. It's Spain, so I'm quite relieved.
