Is that gross?
Are some of those hours overtime?

I’ve timed it by 12 to get a year, then divided it by 52 for weeks then divided it again by the 41.5 hrs which gives £11.09 per hour … I think.

Is it definitely 41.5 working hours per week, or does include your unpaid lunch? And is £1995.55 your gross pay before tax and pension etc?

If so I also get £11.09/hour.

Thanks for replying yes 41.5 hours not including lunch hour. Yes gross before deductions etc

Work extra hours a couple of times a month and get paid overtime for those hours

£1995.55 x 12 months = £23,946.60 pa

41.5 hours x 52.18 weeks = 2165.47 hours per year

£23,946.60 / 2165.47 = £11.06 per hour

However, the NMW calculation has to be based on a maximum pay period of 31 days. In May there are 23 working days (Monday to Friday) x 8.3 hours a day = 190.9 hours. £1995.55/ 190.9 = £10.45 per hour.

Note: I have assumed you work 8 hours 18 minutes Monday to Friday.

Hi thankyou for responsing

I work 8.5 hours 4 days a week and then 1 day x 7.5 hours a week. So basically i am on nmw then some months ...

I did recent calculations myself and got it to £11.09 a hour the same as other people have said. To be honest (and typing that makes me think jesus why have i) never really given it that much thought but when a friend commented about the nmw going up again in april and being on X a year it got me to thinking hang on then i must be not far off it

I was calculating it as my yearly wage and dividing it by 12 and then dividing it by 4 to get weekly wage and then by 41.5 to get hourly rate ans im thinking i am on over £12 per hour 🙈

Some months are more than 4 weeks so your calculations would be off.

Propertylover · 06/03/2024 18:03

The difference between the £11.09 and £11.06 is due to there being more than 52 weeks in a year. 52.18 or 52.2 are more commonly used.

With NMW increasing to £11.44 you should get a pay rise in April to
£11.44 x 41.5 x 52.18 = £24,773
