NATWEST switch…

Hi all.

Seen that Natwest offer a switch service where you can switch your account to them and receive £200. Has anyone done this? Are there anything to look out for. I know you have to deposit £1250 a keep it in the account for 24 hours but just wondered if anything else as does seem a bit easy tbh….

Yes. It's easy.

I haven’t done the NatWest one but I have switched a few times and it’s very easy. All your direct debits and standing orders get moved across automatically. One thing I would say though is that if you have regular payments going in (e.g. salary) make sure you update the new account details yourself with the payer as this doesn’t always happen automatically. The old bank will forward payments on to the new bank but there could be a day or so delay which you don’t want if you have DDs coming out immediately after you get paid.

How quick did you get the £200 into your account?

They usually pay pretty quickly but check the terms of the switching offer - some pay out as soon as the switch is completed but others say you have to use the account for a certain period (e.g. 3 months) before they pay out.

It's incredibly easy. I switched to Natwest in September last year...got the £200 within 10 days...I've recommended it to my family.

I’m currently going through the process. I’ve read and double read what you have to do as it does seem so easy!

Make sure you switch from another account, set up and access the online app, and deposit £1250 within 60 days and it must stay in for at least 24hrs.

I’m being a bit savvy as my friend recommended this….

I have opened a dummy account. I used monzo. And I’m switching that one because I can’t be doing with the faff of moving my established account across. Today I added £1250 from my established account, which I’ll just move back over in a couple days.

Then…. in a couple months or so I’ll do a switch again, this time using the Natwest one when another offer comes out. I leave about £50 in my dummy account and I set up a couple of cheap charity DDs as sometimes this is a requirement.

My switch went through on Tuesday and I got the £200 today, really easy

paperpickles · 01/03/2024 09:52

I received my £200 today! It was a very easy switch - no active direct debit requirements. Cash was paid into the account 2 days after the switch completed.

I did it last year, you have to switch 2 direct debits l think as well. I always run 2 bank accounts so switch when ever there is an offer. I keep my monzo for daily spending and use the other for wages and bills. Everything switches automatically. My son accidentally paid some money into my old account few weeks ago and it still showed up in natwest a few days later.

There is no requirement for switching any direct debits this time with the Natwest offer. (There was none on my account and the switch was very smooth).

It's really easy. I'd recommend using a donor account rather than your usual account should any issues occur.
I open an account with a bank I'm already with, set up a PayPal DD and move a small DD to the account such as a minimum payment on a credit card that I don't actively use.
Complete the switch move any required money in and out and wait for the payout 💰.

Note the date you did the switch as they will do another offer but may be 4-5yrs later. Use that Natwest ac for the next switch offer. It's quite addictive. Between DH and I we're £1.5k up on switch bonuses.

Done multiple switches using dummy accounts, made £1,205 - now waiting for new switches that are outside of my first switch dates
