Do you mean how much Universal Credit if that person were to make a new claim for it?

That depends on how much they are assessed as needing, eg. Would they need help paying rent and childcare? Does anyone in the household have disabilities?

Also how old are the children? As there are different rules depending on age. Try the benefits calculator at www.entitledto.co.uk

Benefits Calculator - entitledto - independent | accurate | reliable | www.entitledto.co.uk

Check what benefit entitlement you are entitled to. The entitledto benefits calculator will check which means-tested benefits you may be entitled to e.g. tax credits, universal credit, housing benefit …

Thank you for your reply. Yes I was meaning universal credit. The children are 13,9 and 3. Possible autism or something with the 9 year old but no disabilities. Zero income as in job etc. would need help with rent etc. will have a look at link thank you x

Universal credit, housing benefit, single parent benefit, and child tax credits.🤗🤗🤗, also I can apply for a discretionary payment if I apply

Gingerkittykat · 28/02/2024 07:28

You would apply for universal credit.

You would be entitled to an allowance for a single adult of £368.74, an allowance for 2 children which is £539.16, and either your rent paid in full or a contribution towards it.

you would not receive an allowance for child 3 due to the 2 child rule unless they were conceived through rape or in an abusive relationship.

If you start work you would have a work allowance of £379 which means you can earn this before reductions to your UC. After that, 55p is taken from your UC for every pound you earn.

You would also be entitled to up to 85% of childcare paid.

You would apply for council tax single person discount and reduction for a low income directly to the council.

Is this per week?
Thanks

Snozzlemaid · 28/02/2024 07:35

Your 3 year old will be able to have 15 funded hours childcare a week from the term following their third birthday, if you're not already getting that.

I'd be recommending looking for work asap.

Or looking at training options / courses. Anything that puts you in a better position financially.

Potentially renting will be an issue if it's private landlord if there is no income beyond benefits.

FedUpMumof10YO · 28/02/2024 08:41

@crackfoxy no, monthly
