Affiliate marketers on insta and tiktok

Theres a lot of people on social media claiming to be making hundreds of thousands of dollars through affiliate marketing scams...I mean models.

I'm assuming that its all multi level marketing and they are selling a dream rather than a reality. I could see how it "could" work if you had 50,000 + followers but cant see it working for accountslike mine that post the odd plate of food and a holiday snap.

Has anyone tried it? Has anyone bought in to a course these people are selling? Did you make any money? Is it one big pyramid scheme?

Well it is possible for an account to make a lot of money through affiliate marketing without followers BUT they need to make an engaging video that goes viral.

I personally have an online business since 2016 and use affiliate marketers, just normal people with no more than a few hundred followers. Most of them will only make £100 a month, some will make enough to cover bills, some will make enough cover their rent and I’ve had a few people turn it into their full time job.

Less often someone will go “viral” and make a huge payout. One of my affiliate marketers just made £26,000 commission in one day on TikTok from a post without her having any followers. And then went on to earn an extra £150,000 in commission that month from the same post.

But like I said, she went “viral”. It happens now and then, definitely possible if you make engaging content. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, the girl who made the huge payout was just in her dressing gown on the sofa talking about the product, a 14 second video. But yes I agree, most of these schemes will be scams, especially those who advertise you being able to make money.

I personally never advertise my affiliate scheme, I only invite people to join it after they have organically bought my product and I know they are genuinely interested in it.

And just to follow up, you are correct the “courses” are a scam, that’s how they are making their money. The reality is if someone has found an easy way to make money online they will gate-keep it like hell, they will not sell a course to create new competitors for themselves.

Interesting...so its all about the virality of your content and ensuring you embed your affiliate links in everything "incase" it goes viral?

What is your criteria for accepting affiliates? I looked on amazon affiliates and you have to have a blog, website, app or large social following.

Yes that’s right. I personally do not have criteria for affiliates, but they are just “normal” people, I invite people to join when they have organically purchased my product.

Perhaps your favourite brands have affiliate programs you can ask about. But anyone who is advertising a course on how to make money doing this, I would stay well away from personally. As selling the course is their real business.
