Very Scared PIP

Hi everyone,

I am new here, I have been on PIP since 2017, for mental health depression aniexty CFS and fibromyalgia. I had my assessment 19/02 it was a phone consult. I answered all the questions as best as I could. Today I recieved a text saying my PIP review is complete you should recieve your decision letter in 2 weeks. This is very fast I'm worried this is a bad thing? any advice or reassurance is most appreciated I have had no sleep and crying most evenings at the thought of having my award stopped :(

Sorry you’re feeling like this. It’s hard not to worry about something that could have a huge impact. I imagine two weeks feels like an eternity to wait.

I don’t know anything about PIP, but if you don’t get responses in this section of Mumsnet, you could try asking in the General Health section? There may be more posters there who have experience of PIP claims processes.

Good luck

Reviews are dleiberately very light touch now, and fairly quick. It's no guarantee, but try not to worry.

I've recently had this with my dd's PIP claim.

Interview on Friday, the same text you had by the following Wednesday. A few weeks later she was awarded more than we had expected or hoped for.

So not necessarily a bad thing in my experience.

Babyroobs · 26/02/2024 16:45

It's just a standard text that everyone receives. You've been on it since 2017, so seven years. If nothing has changed I doubt they will stop it.

DorothyZ · 26/02/2024 16:51

Call them up and ask for a copy of the assessors report.

snowlaser · 27/02/2024 12:31

I don't know much about PIPs specifically - but just comparing it to other things in life if it's simply continuing this would seem much quicker for them to process than them for some reason trying to stop it, so I'd have thought quick is good news.

Not a great analogy perhaps, but think how quick an obvious older person's ID check would be to prove being over 18 compared to how closely they'd check a teenager....if it's an obvious "yes" it will be waved through whereas if it's borderline they will take more time.

DorothyZ · 27/02/2024 12:41

It's not been quick though. It's usually for a review to be done in that time scale. The long waits come from people in a queue to get the assessment done in the first place. Time wise this is absolutely normal.

lynG86 · 27/02/2024 13:16

Thank you for the replies! I have called them up and asked for a copy of the assessors report. Im glad to know that one week is normal for a review time scale. I will try an stay calm and wait for the decision or assessors report to arrive in the post

Thanks everyone

Lyn x

Was advised on another forum to check the automated payment line, the theory is for reviews if you have been awarded pip your next payment will be available to see, if you get put through to an advisor it means you have lost your award? So I tried it and got put through to advisor :( no way to be absolutely sure but my next payment isn't given to me on the automated payment line :(

Did you ask the advisor if they could see the decision on the system?

lynG86 · 29/02/2024 15:15

Hi MeMyCatsAndMyBooks! I called and said can you tell me what my decision is? He said no he can't but he can tell me my award doesn't run out in September and my next payment has not changed on his system?

He said he can't see any information about the decision?

If it was due to run out then he is essentially telling you that your claim has stayed the same.
