I'm a teacher who works 3 days. I'm on mat leave currently and due to return end of May. I've reached out to my boss to discuss the possibility of reducing my hours to 2 days instead of 3. I benefited from TFC with my eldest as I was contracted 16.5 hrs (I worked faaaaar more than this in reality). It occurred to me that if I drop to 2 days (11hrs) I will
no longer be entitled to TFC as you need to work 16 hrs from what I recall?

TIA

I think it might be based on earnings as from what I recall it's the equivalent of 16 hours per week at national minimum wage. So you can work less hours as long as you earn on average the equivalent to or more than £167 per week.

As PP said, it is the equivalent of 16 hours at minimum wage so as a teacher working 2 days you'll be well over the minimum earnings to qualify.

Thank you both - that's really reassuring!! Hopefully my HT approves the reduction in hours 🤞🏻
