Multicar policies - any other way of doing it?

Dear all

I've just had to add yet another car (for another of our DC) to our family multicar policy and the cost was eyewatering, despite it not being an expensive car.

Apart from going with the main market leader for multicar policies, are there any other cheaper ways to do it, e.g. using an insurance broker? Has anyone done this already and how did it work?

For example, we have 4 people on the policy, 4 cars and now paying well north of £5k pa.

Is multicar necessarily the best, ie cheapest, way of doing it?

How many cars belong to DC who are still young and only recently passed the test so seen as high risk?

Are you/they amenable to black boxes? It's a while now since DS bought his first car but a black box in a Pug 107 kept in Liverpool reduced his premium a lot.

A word with a broker might be a good bet.

Thanks bromptotoo. Only 1 DC is young and is only insured on 2 of the cars. I think you're right and it's broker time. Multicar was far cheaper than the individual quotes last time, so yes, sadly doing them separately isn't a viable option for us.
