Company I’ve ordered goods from has gone into receivership

I’ve just heard unofficially (via the guy who was going to start fitting a new bathroom in a few weeks) that the company I’ve paid a deposit to for various bathroom products are ‘going into receivership’. They are not responding to any calls/messages and we’ve heard the person who was our contact has been ‘let go’ with monies owing to him. Unfortunately I paid the deposit using a bank transfer as this was the only option given to me. The money went through before Xmas.

I’ve told my bank, and they have started the process of asking for my money back, and say it will take about 20 days for them to get a response from the companie’s bank (which I’m assuming will be a refusal).

Does anyone have experience of this situation ? I’m assuming I’ll lose the money and have to order the products again, but whilst there’s a tiny chance this may be resolved somehow I wouldn’t want to end up with two sets of products ! I’ve read it can take up to a month just for the company status on ‘Companies House’ to reflect what’s happening. Does anyone know how long it takes the ‘Receiver’ to contact you, and how long on average it takes for you to get a final answer on where you stand ? Losing the money is a huge blow, but I also need to sort out my failing/faulty bathroom asap even if it means paying the deposit again through another company. Any advice appreciated.

I have dealt with companies who have never contacted me personally and just put a message on their website.

you will be at the bottom of a long list unfortunately so it is unlikely you will ever see the money
