I am a full time carer for my severly mentally ill dh. We are in receipt of universal credit, I receive carers allowance and he receives standard rate PIP daily living. He is also in the ESA support group. Our son aged 24 is a full time university student, he does not currently have any kind of part time job. He has been finding it hard to rent somewhere so has moved back home with us. His student maintenance loan has been adjusted to say he is now living at home. However, we were receiving full council tax support but have today received a letter stating we will now have to make a contribution because he has moved back home (I'm assuming student finance must have told them as I wasn't going to notify anyone until tomorrow, the day he would be due back at uni and the first day he has officially moved back home). I am also going to notify UC tomorrow that there is a non dependant adult now living with us. Does anyone know if this will affect our UC payments. Will the fact that my dh receives PIP Daily living component mean we don't get our payments deducted because our son is now living with us? I realise that usually we would get deducted approx £85 per month off our UC award, but will the PIP make any difference? I've been trying to research on various websites but it's all so confusing and id be grateful for any advice.
