Should I have received NI credits for this year?

I have an incomplete year in my national insurance record. I know I worked this year, although I only worked from September to march of the tax year (then continued into the next tax year).

I was on a low wage (£2.73 an hour!)and I was working 37 or 38 hours a week. I know this is too low a wage to have paid NI.

What I’m trying to work out is whether I should have received NI credits for that year? Or whether I just didn’t work enough months?
