Company gone bust - I'm down £330 - can I claim back?

I recently ordered three expensive pairs of shoes at c. £110 each to decide which to wear to a wedding. In the end, none were suitable.

I bought them via two separate orders. The first order was for two pairs of shoes and I paid using a debit card. The second order was for one pair of shoes and I paid using a credit card.

I returned all three pairs for a refund - in their two separate parcels, exactly as they were originally sent to me. Both parcels were returned via Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed Next Day by 1pm. I checked on Royal Mail Tracking and both parcels appear to have arrived on 15th November. There is a signature and a photo against both tracking numbers.

I have not heard from the company and have not received a refund. The company's name is Mozimo. They appear to be based in Nantwich in Cheshire. Their website - www.mozimo.co.uk - seems to have been taken down. There are a couple of other comments online, posted within the past month, from people who have placed orders which haven't been fulfilled and they have also been unable to get hold of the company.

Can I get my money back? I've been reading up on Google. There seems to be some protection for the credit card purchase (I'm not sure about the debit card purchase?) if you buy an item and it doesn't turn up. But I can't find any information about what happens if your items did turn up and you've returned them!

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Contact you card providers and explain what’s happened. I think the credit card one is covered, but the debit card one may be governed by its own issuing bank rules.

I’ve only had a quick look at the linky.

fwiw when my debit card was stolen, my bank reimbursed the fraudulent purchases. But that was 20 years ago. But there is hope.

You might be able to ask for a chargeback via your card companies.

They have gone into liquidation according to a quick Companies House search. A shame as they have several shops locally and have been around for ages.
I hope you are able to claim back your money.

If the credit card company refuses ( which in my case they did but this was some time ago) go to the ombudsman. Good luck I hope you get it back.

@Oneminutespeace1 depending upon the value you might be able to claim a section 75 claim via your CC but the transaction needs to be over £100. I’d personally try and argue that the transactions are linked (s75 covers the whole amount of a contract even if only a partial payment is made via cc)

Failing that, Contact your bank regarding the other transaction. And also Royal Mail as the correct return of the parcel may be covered under the terms of their insurance but unlikely to cover the whole amount (long shot).

MSE often has helpful templates for s75 claims. Hope you get your money back.

Thank you so much for the really helpful replies. I have raised a chargeback request with my bank this morning for the debit card transaction, but apparently it may take up to 30 days for them to look at it due to high volumes at the moment. I will also raise a section 75 claim for the credit card transaction. We’ll see what happens given that I did actually receive the goods -it would have been much simpler if they’d never sent them. Thanks again. Much appreciated.
