Universal Credit

Hello,

I'm going part time in January (2 days a week) to be able to look after my disabled DS more. I currently get £379 UC as my earnings deduct an amount but once I go part time I'm entitled to £975 as my salary will only be £800 per month.

How long does is take for DWP to adjust your earnings and pay out the larger entitled amount once you stop work? I'm a bit worried in January they'll only pay £379 in case it takes them a month to assess and adjust my claim, which will leave me with much less that I expected 😥

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Thank you❤

The adjustment is done instantly, but it's based on the date your paid your wages within your uc assessment period. Your uc will increase in the month you receive your first reduced wages, so if your paid from work at the end of each month then the end of January would be your first reduced wage and your uc would increase from the assessment period that includes that wage.

Universal Credit uses your actual earnings in each monthly Assessment Period (AP).

When the employer runs payroll and reports the numbers to HMRC it's done real time. That information is shared with Universal Credit and shows on your statement at the end of the AP.

Does your DS get DLA or PIP?

I've just had my second child and they said that once my child has been verified I will receive an underpayment for him. Its now 2 months worth of pay without getting it for second child. Does anyone know how long it usually takes?

Hi I've signed up for Universal Credit. They've taken into account that I am an unofficial carer (less than 35 hours). They've also suggested I get a note from the GP about my health issues. I'm new to all of this so not sure what I have to ask for at my GPs. Do I just ask them to confirm my health issues? Thank you in advance.

@UC1 I think it depends why they want details of your health conditions. Do they affect your ability to work?

UC1 · 07/12/2023 11:47

Fatigue wise yes, and wouldn't be able to do heavy lifting.

Reading this I'm not clear whether they think medical details help justify an 'easement' in what's expected of you in terms of Work Activity or whether they think you might have Limited Capability for Work/Work Related Activity. The latter would set you on course for a Work Capability Assessment.

I'd suggest asking on your Journal for them to clarify what exactly they want.

OK. Will do. Thank you.
