UC

I've had an extra bit of back pay in my wages which sounds great but obviously it will change the UC number next month.
Are there any clever maths folk here that can tell me how much by if I provide the numbers pls?
I have a ballpark idea but an exact would be better!
The first 379 is safe, every £1 earned after this reduces the UC by 55p.

The UC is usually 1917.92
The wage this month 1632.81

Thankyou if anyone helps

How much was the back pay?

Lizzt2007 · 23/11/2023 07:42

How much is your normal wage? the difference in your uc for this month will be new wage - normal wage = A , A x 0.35 = B, regular uc - B = this months uc. Basically you keep 65p per pound of the arrears, so if your extra was £100, your uc would reduce by £35.

Babyroobs · 23/11/2023 08:21

For each additional pound you are paid above your normal wage, your Uc will reduce by another 55p.

New wage minus old wage = bonus

Bonus multiply by 0.55 = reduction in UC

Usual UC amount minus reduction in UC amount = what you will recieve

You'll still be better off earning extra.

What's the difference between usual wage and this months wage?

Perpetualstateofchaos · 23/11/2023 14:36

You'll lose £689.60 of your UC in total. Usual UC amount will probably have some deduction so without total allowance before deductions i can't say what you'll receive but hopefully this helps you work it out.

Thankyou

2009.72 before deductions but with deductions that occur every month it's the amount stated in OP so hopefully your calculations will be about right. It sounds right to me anyway, thank you
