Hi there,
I don't know whether this is the best forum for it, but giving it a shot as I cannot decide what to do.
I have a car fitted with ADAS system (Advanced driver-assistance system). I recently scratch it, only superficially and had the paintwork repaired for a cost of £215. Just as the mobile repair job got booked in I received an email from the repair company advising me that since my car was fitted with an ADAS system, I will need to have this re-calibrated following the repair.
I didn't even know what this was so I looked into it and that's going to come at a cost of an additional £200 which I absolutely cannot afford, plus because it was only scratches to the bumper area, I cannot imagine it would have affected the ADAS system much, I mean it still seems to be working as before.
Everyone's telling me to ignore this, but I'm concerned if I don't recalibrate it, it may invalidate my insurance.
Does anybody have any experience or knowledge of this and how would my insurance know that it needed recalibrating? Would they assume this off the basis I made a claim for the damage done to the other car and request to see proof that it was recalibrated? because if not it's an expense I'd rather avoid...
Any advise from anyone knowledgeable about either ADAS or car insurance in general, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
