Does anyone know anything about it? Is it one of those no win/no fee rip offs? I think it may be from the website but can't be sure without submitting some details.TIA

yes it is turquey - please dont go with them. They are just a claims company. If you want to consult a PI law firm I can recommend one. Companies like NAH just sell the claims onto firms of solicitors for you which in turn helps no-one at all

JanH · 19/12/2004 20:49

Yes, it's one of those no-win-no-fee places - advertises on TV - I think it's probably a ripoff but without personal experience wouldn't like to say so! Why are you interested, turquey?

cranberryjampot · 19/12/2004 20:51

Also firms like this tie you down with expensive insurance. BY going straight to a solicitor you will pay absolutely nothing win or lose (although obviously they assess your case firstly and keep you informed throughout).

Ah - thanks for that. It's for a friend in England who's had a road accident, I think his best bet is to go to the CAB and get details of disablement benefit as well as look into the possibility of compensation (the accident was not his fault). I've just been trying to find a few web sites and stuff to give him a few pointers though, and that one came up and looked less of the usual ambulance chasing rip off style.

Balmorals are my friends. They are a husband and wife team and are so lovely. Loads of experience in PI and Juliette has also done lots of family work too

cranberryjampot · 19/12/2004 21:19

try again - Balmorals

cranberryjampot · 19/12/2004 21:21

If your friend calls them (they have a 24 hour virtual office too) they will call back and will be happy to discuss the case with your friend

turquey · 19/12/2004 21:27

Thanks Cranberryjampot - they look very good. I'll send the details to his family as I'm worried they were looking into the nw/nf agencies. He's the sort who doesn't want to make a fuss and he fully deserves compensation after a very nasty accident.

I never know why people go to the claims companies - they only ever pass the claims on to solicitors anyway. Please encourage him to go to a firm of sols in any event. The firm doesn't have to be local to your friend as very little face to face contact is necessary (if any) and certainly most firms would travel if it did become necessary. Likewise, medical experts can be arranged locally to your friend. Hope he is ok

turquey · 19/12/2004 21:48

I think a lot of people don't realise that normal good solicitors operate nw/nf - but without the huge percentage cut. It's all down to advertising and it makes me really when people get ripped off.
My friend has no broken bones, but can still only just about hobble after over a week, he was concussed and really badly bruised - he's over 60 and is self employed, so is losing earnings.

I think you're right Turquey. Anyway the main thing is your friend is getting better and hopefully will be looked after financially too. Contact me if you want any more help on this [email protected]
