Self Assessment - Hobbey Busiess

I have a PAYE job as my regular 9-5. But in the past few months I have started designing yoga mats and selling them on ESTY using printify to print and dispatch. You can have a gross income of £1000 before you need to do a self assessment form. So far I have made around £300 profit since launching in September. In terms of the £1000 obviously I include Esty fees in this but what about printify and the underlying costs of the mats etc? I am really the middle lady, the customer requests one of my designs from my shop and printify fullfills.

If your sales exceed £1000 you need complete SA

Sawaranga · 12/11/2023 20:38

How much were your sales?

Your sales for the current tax year won't need to be reported via self-assessment until after the end of the tax year (April 2024), with a submission deadline of Jan 2025. It is prudent to be looking into how to do it, how to register etc and get things set up in advance of course.

You do realise that etsy will close down your shop for the way you do business? They don't allow 3rd party printing. People have been all over the etsy groups the last few weeks complaining that their shops have been closed by etsy because they use printify.
The 1k is turnover so includes all sales before any expenses are taken off
