PIP Assessment

Lynzmumof21979 · 06/11/2023 12:55

Hi everyone
Just looking for some advice please.
I have received a copy of my PIP assessment and surprisingly it was completely correct. The assessor listened and also read my medical evidence in full, so was lovely during my assessment and I'm very grateful that she was honest on the report.

I have added up the descriptors and she has recommended 15 on daily living and 20 on mobility.

Could anyone advise if the decision makers normally go with recommendations?

I'm so anxious.

Thank you in advance

Yes, agree with examples. Write things down so you don't forget - a list of all the aids you need.
i.e.
shower stool
Raise/lower bath seat
grab rails
Raised toilet seat
walker, walking sticks
help to put on shoes & socks
memory foam cushion to stop pain whilst sitting
a spinning cushion for getting in/out the car
Dosset box for helping you take the correct medication
Any special clothing/shoes/supports you wear
Needing someone with you to open/close doors, help you up & down steps.
Light sensitive glasses
Etc, etc.

Lynzmumof21979 · 13/01/2024 14:21

Try not to panic. The lady I had was brilliant and it was 2.5hr telephone call! She she wanted to give me a.massive hug!
As said before have a drink ready and make sure you have your phone fully charged with a charger to hand. I had tissues aswell because I knew I'd cry x

@Lynzmumof21979 thankyou! Youve made me feel alot more relaxed about it.
ok i dont want to cry , i hate crying to anyone but talking about it just brings it up how

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 13/01/2024 14:25

I had my assessment on Wednesday. My assessor was lovely and have to wait up to 8 week for my decision!

Starrrz · 13/01/2024 14:32

@RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo im so
glad it went well :) do you work?
im worried cause i work prt Time i wont get it xx

CoffeeBeansGalore · 13/01/2024 14:37

@Starrrz I am so sorry. You are so young to be dealing with this.
Mention the loss of independence, needing constant help.
It's hard to go through.

There are days I could cry. But then I think enough. Get on with it. You have to be determined/stubborn/bloody minded. Your body is letting you down but you are the only one who can deal with it.
If you want to pm me I am more than happy to listen. Time is something I have plenty of.

Starrrz · 13/01/2024 14:40

@CoffeeBeansGalore thankyou so much! I feel like i cant keep
going on to people as they think same
old with me. I used to be sooo happy and positive! Now im the total opposite.
if you wouldnt mind id really appriciate that xx

Starlightstarbright2 · 13/01/2024 14:41

I did my Ds’s migration from Dla to PIp .
I was on the phone 1 hour 50 minutes .

i asked for copy of the report it never arrived .

he was on middle rate care and low mobility on Dla - he got enhanced on both for 6 years on Pip .

I just answered honestly - just told her I was thinking if I didn’t have a clear answer .

Gp had said no issues with activities if Daily living but said she needed to understand why he could physically but didn’t .

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 13/01/2024 14:55

@Starrrz yes I work full time - a few people I work with also get it.

Starrrz · 13/01/2024 15:16

@RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo do you mind me asking what you do?
i dont know anyone who gets it personally so i cant ask questions.
i mean a lot probably do but dont say xx

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 15/01/2024 06:41

@teudent well ive got all my hospital letters saying all my conditions. They wrote to my gp and they had to fill out a form. I dont know what they put , i will just go by my worst days. Wnd those days i dont shower , i stay in bed. Cant drive, my family have my little girl. Losing money as i keep missing shifts in work.
ive had long covid for nearly 4 years now , i was put on heart meds but i had an allergic reaction due to my mcas. And now my ecg is showing somwthing else is abnormal. Im only in my 20s i feel like im an old woman xx

You can state your worst days but they will want to know how often you have a worse day. I separated out worst days, average days and good days and roughly how frequently they occur.

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 16/01/2024 04:51

@Starrrz no, I didn't tell them which company I worked for of the address or anything just that I work full time split between home and office. I was asked about if I had any thing at work to help me which I do so o explained all that to her.

Starrrz · 16/01/2024 19:27

luckmewish · 18/01/2024 08:30

Oh I usually get my decision before I get my assessment (been through it twice now).

Starrrz · 18/01/2024 09:00

@RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo thats amazing!! Well done !! Thats positive:)
do you drive ? As i do any worry will go against me? Only to work (8min drive) on good day x

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 18/01/2024 09:06

@Starrrz yes I drive, I drive to work which is about 20 minutes away but that's the most I drive, if I drive any further I then can't do anything when I get there

Lynzmumof21979 · 18/01/2024 11:26

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 18/01/2024 12:53

Been awarded the standard rate for both which I'm obviously happy about as it will help loads but I'm going for my letter and see what the report says as to how many points I've got
