2 jobs and tax

I'm a single parent working two low income jobs
1st job 400 4weekly
2nd job 500 4 weekly

Can anyone help with what I should pay tax wise? I was talking to someone today and they mentioned I shouldn't have to pay tax because my wage is low? Buy I have no idea 😅

Why would the tax you pay be the same if you earn £10k or £30k?

IME of helping DS with this (as he had 2 jobs), HMRC are crap at splitting tax codes. He ended up paying tax he didn't owe and when trying to claim it back they fobbed him off and tried to make him wait for months. I made him insist on speaking to a supervisor/manager as clearly the person he spoke to was clueless.

Speak to HMRC. Make sure they understand how much you will earn in each job and that they notify each employer of the correct tax code. That way you won't end up paying unnecessary tax and having to claim it back.

3 jobs EACH earning 10000 will be the same as one job earning 30000

Defo tax

Why aren't you paying national insurance?

Why aren't you paying national insurance?

They will be under the National Insurance threshold as it is £242 per week in each job. You could earn £600 per week across 3 different jobs and never pay NI as long as none of the jobs reached the threshold.

So there is two thing you can sp.

You can either contact HMRC. They will change your tax code so you will be taxed accurately.

Or do nothing then in a few months you get a tax rebate, once they calculate the amount of tax you paid.

I think you should google your local council website and search where the local tax office is and phone them.
