I owe mine £2600.
I don’t think I will ever be in credit!

decionsdecisions62 · 28/10/2023 11:51

That must be worrying for you

CesareBorgia · 28/10/2023 11:56

I was slightly in credit but I won't be now as I've been ill for the last couple of weeks and have had the heating on.

IncompleteSenten · 28/10/2023 11:57

A little bit. I overpay during the summer to build a little cushion over winter.

It's getting harder though. Times are tough.

Dontcallmescarface · 28/10/2023 12:10

I have £448 on the gas and £120 on the electric. Both are pre-pay (my choice). I pay no more than £120 combined a month. The next few months will see me just topping up the electric so I will actually be saving £ until the gas is down to £250.

OhamIreally · 28/10/2023 14:45

This thread just made me check mine. £563 in credit.

I get what people are saying about them having your money but for me it's worth losing a few quid in interest to have a set amount go out and know that I've built up a cushion for the winter.

LittlePinguin · 28/10/2023 16:02

£900 in credit - OVO pay 5% interest which is paid monthly so pretty much covers my vat each month and I don't need to worry about putting the heating on in winter

I have been perpetually in credit for the last year so have moved to variable DD so I pay for what I use. I don't want the energy company sitting on my money but I also know I'm strict enough with myself not to spend the money I put aside for the bills which probably doesn't work for everyone.

If you're in credit by hundreds of pounds I can't understand why you wouldn't reclaim it, though.

This time of year, if you pay by budget direct debit (set amount a month), you should have a big chunk of credit, or you won't have enough for the winter months. This is how the scheme works!

MyCircumference · 02/11/2023 19:22

thanks to analysing the bills i emailed them to ask why there was a large charge, i noticed in December, it seems it was their error, although the email response is in such bad english i can't really understand why! however i am now in credit - good news
