NHS children’s pension

NHSpensionquestion · 13/10/2023 13:52

I am helping someone to sort out their financial affairs. They have an NHS pension and a disabled adult child. Can anyone explain children’s pension for adult children who are incapable of earning a living due to permanent disability? How does it work? What evidence is required?

Do you mean the sort of pension that might be paid following death in service?

Not death in service. The person I am helping is already in receipt of their NHS pension. I don’t know much about NHS pensions but they say when they die a children’s pension can continue to be paid because their adult child is dependent because of their disability. I am wondering how it works and what evidence is required?

OK, some sort of survivors pension then.

I'll do a bit more digging.

Thank you.

Does anyone know what evidence needs to be provided? And what the definition of incapable of earning a living due to permanent physical or mental infirmity is?

Hopeful bump?

From what I can see they will ask for “medical evidence and a medical report” . Id imagine it isn’t easy to define precisely, but a medical expert will need to deem it is the case.
