Savings before uc claim

I have had to drop my hours at work due to Ill health and am a single parent. I would like to claim uc and am under savings threshold , however I have had some significant expenditure such as buying a car ( second hand 9k ) and deposit/ furniture for my flat( approx 3k ). I have read about deprivation of capital and spending before a claim. I was wondering if uc know about savings before you claim e.g six months prior ( as I had over 16 k )I have proof of all expenditure etc and can explain , but have serious anxiety.

They won't be worried about that at all. It's reasonable expenditure.

The issue is deprivation of assets. That means you've spent money with the intention of getting cash out of the door and obtaining/increasing your benefit.

Ordinary spend, which is what you describe should not be an issue.

A pretty ordinary car less than five years old is going to cost around £10k. Motorway are gagging to pay me £8k for my 2016 Skoda Fabia.

Similarly, a month's rent in advance, plus a damage etc deposit and tables/chairs etc from IKEA easily match what you've spent.
