Need to know credit card obligations after split

Hi guys, does anyone know where I can get a report of all the credit cards and loans that I am associated with? I’m splitting up with H and as a precautionary measure want to make sure I am not linked to him financially through joint credit cards etc as he has a history of racking up debt.

I know Experian used to do this but they seem to be more interested in giving a score rather than providing a report. But am not sure if I’ll get a detailed report if I sign up.

my aim is to take myself off any joint cards and give myself peace of mind.

Secondary cards I don't believe are your issue... it would be cards in your name that become soley yours I think. So if he's racking up debt in his own name that's not an issue.

However as you say husband... divorce will render you jointly liable for all debts as that point.. you might want to seek legal financial separation... through a solicitor...

Thanks do you mean where he applies and adds me as another card holder?

There's no such thing as a joint credit card in the UK. You can be a second card holder but you're not legally responsible for any debt even if you spent the money.

You can look at your credit file for free using credit karma or Moneysavingexpert.com credit club.

Experian definitely do this if you sign up. You can cancel at any time so just sign up, pay for a month and cancel straight away. If you keep it on you can “lock” your credit report so nobody can do a check on it to get credit without you knowing which will give you peace of mind going forward.

good luck op with getting those ducks aligned

This is only true if the debt is on a joint account or if you benefited from the spend. If your DH run up debts buying himself designer clothes or gambling then you have no liability.

You can get your Experian credit report for free if you register to the credit club on money saving expert. You don't need to pay
