Change over to UC

Hi, after some advice off someone who may have been through similar? I work full time but receive child tax credits. My son is disabled so I get the disability element too. As everyone is due to move over to UC I did an assessment and it looks like my UC payment will nearly half of what I get now due to the disability element on UC being a lot lower. Is this correct from anyone's experience? Very worried as I just about scrape by as it is 😔

I think the lower disabled child rate is less than tax credits. If you are asked to move over through managed migration then you will have transitional protection so won't be worse off intially.

Do you claim DLA for your child?

Yes, he receives DLA x

Thanks. What I was worried about. 😔Absolutely dreading it, who came up with a system that penalises the most vulnerable?

Many many people are better off on UC, especially given that the carers elements can be paid regardless of how many hours a parent works so many parents of disabled children benefit that way. many working people and people on low incomes are significantly better off on UC.
