while at college today i chased up a letter i'm waiting for, they have sent it to a old address from 5 years ago,i never thought anything at first until i could not understand how they had that address,
so i went to the office to see what was going on and somebody has been going on courses in my name,a different d.o.b ,but very similar, under that address
i have rang police and have to go on friday, but how can i find out if she has been using my name for credit, benifits?
any tips or your own personal experiences would be v helpful

Try running an Experion (SP?) credit check on yourself... see if anything untoward turns up....

Also, try checking who lives at that address now... (192.com should be able to help)... Check old electorate registers. I suppose there is a possibility that someone with the same name lives there now, but it's a long shot!

Also, presumably this person is going to the same college as you? If so, check with the college - who are they? What other records do they have? How has the student paid for the courses... They might not talk directly to you, but should be able to help the police.

Sorry, that's all I can think of right now.

you can speak to the benefits office to alert them, but they may not do much over the phone

the way we found out was when the Tax Credit office sent a form outlining our entitlement (we aren;t eligible for credits)

have you had any suscpicious activity on your bank account or anything like that?
