How much will I come home with a month?

I've just started a part time job. It's £11.25 an hour and a 15 hour a week contract. Paid on the 22nd of each month. By my calculations I think I'll come home with around £675 but my partner says I'm adding it up different to how he would and he thinks it'll be more along the lines of £730?

Seems like you're working out your pay per four weeks but months are longer than that.

SprogTakesAQuarry · 19/09/2023 18:05

I get £731 a month before pension deduction if applicable

Pammela2 · 19/09/2023 18:05

I don’t think you’ll get the same amount each month? As you’re paid on the same dates, some will be longer months than others. Your figure is correct if you are being paid every 4 weeks- which you sometimes will be. But other times it will be more like 4 /2 or 5 weeks before you are paid again, then your boyfriends estimate would be closer.

It'll be about 731 - taking into account no tax, NI or student loan due to yearly amount

If you are enrolled in pension it will be different

Diegofrompennyburn · 19/09/2023 18:07

675 is 4 weeks. 731 is what you get of you take a weeks wage, multiply by 52 and divide by 12.

Lavendersquare · 19/09/2023 18:10

Your partner is correct the gross pay will be
15x 11.25 = 168.75
168.75 x 52 weeks = 8775.00 (annual)
8775.00 divided by 12 = 731.25

So every month you'll get £731.25 monthly before deductions for pension. You'll be earning under the tax and NI threshold so nothing else should be deducted, that's assuming this is your only job.

Agree with this calculation.

You’re paid monthly, so your husband is right

loudbatperson · 19/09/2023 20:22

The calculations above are correct, as it's monthly pay.

Your calculations were for 4 weekly pay.

Thanks everyone.. I think that's right I was doing 15 x £11.25 x 4 and my partner was working it out divided by 52 (I think)
