Insurance sick pay and universal credit

Unfortunately myself and partner now want to claim benefit after losing our home

I am already getting universal credit but partner isn't

I now want to claim housing Component of UC

Partner is is getting insurance pay monthly as he can't work due to illness and he is now getting half his salary from insurance pay

I wonder if this type of insurance pay is classed as income and taken into account when DWP is calculating entitlement

Also will I have to fill the insurance payment as income as though he is working and getting paid like say long term sick pay?

Are you living together?

if you are living together then it must be a joint claim.

I'm pretty sure it would be treated as other income so deducted in full. Not 100% sure though.

That's it exactly. Universal Credit Regs Reg 66 (1)(h):

a payment received under an insurance policy to insure against—
(i)the risk of losing income due to illness, accident or redundancy,

I think though there is some latitude where a payment is for the specific purpose of paying a mortgage.
