Transferring cash isa

This is supposed to be simple. On line application to move isa from one provider to another. I’ve spent hours on line and on the phone with both banks saying it’s the fault of the other. Complaint letters sent.

Very frustrating, what else can I do.

Which bank are you moving to? Have you already found and filled in the forms?

It is normally the bank you are moving to that takes care of the transfer. The common reasons it didn’t work are:

a mismatch in information. Is your name and address exactly the same on both of the accounts?

you are not able to be fully identified and so may need to get new documents to your old ISA provider.

you are applying for something that you are not eligible for. Have you checked that you are allowed to have the new ISA?

when going through the complaint if the bank is at fault they so have to look at the interest you have lost and compensate you any difference for the delay. Remember this when they are giving by you the resolution as not all of the workers are aware of this.

Thank you Wolfpa for your reply. I applied on line to Lloyds for transfer of existing ISA from Virgin Money who took over Yorkshire Bank who the original ISA was with. Getting on line and talking to someone from Virgin is incredibly time consuming with no real result, they say Lloyds are not giving them the correct information. Lots of phone calls to Lloyds who are saying they have requested this twice with no result.

Have now written to both to complain and have received a generic email.

I have also sent email to the experts at Daily Mail and have received a acknowledgement.

I will continue to follow the correct procedures to sort this out.
Thanks once again.

I’d threaten them with the Financial Ombudsman too. Their website mentions not just lost interest but compensation for time, effort and distress.
I found Virgin by far the worst bank to deal with when trying to sort my DM’s estate. They made it very difficult to do things on line and this was during lockdown when other banks put procedures in place. Strange how they were more than happy to take her money online but not give it back! Good luck OP.
