Ex husband stole FSM voucher

Need advice. My ex husband looked after my son in May whilst I was in hospital, so he changed my email for the school to his.
I didn't know this, and the Free School meals voucher was sent to his email and he cashed it in at Asda. It was £117 so not small change. I asked him for it back even if it was just given to DS as spending money when we went on holiday. He's blanked me.
The school and council have said they can't do anything.
Technically it's benefit fraud and an offence, so would you go to the police? Or should I just leave it? It makes me so cross as he's taken money from my son, and not even told me. No "I think I got this by mistake" I know he got it because school toldbe the number it had been redeemed on which is his phone number.

@AuntieEsther

So would it by OK for the father to claim other benefits even though he is working and not entitled to them?

How about child benefit? ESA? UC?

Did you have your child over the holidays or did he?

She has said she was in hospital for a month May to June so presumably she did. It still won't make anybody investigate it.

Ohthatsabitshit · 07/09/2023 09:25

If she had the child then I’d be much more aggressive than if she didn’t.

If I were you I'd double check that he hadn't applied for any uniform grants or other benefits for your son and most certainly contact dwp for benefit fraud.

How do you apply please? I can't see a link to apply on that page

JaiynDough · 07/09/2023 13:54

I've emailed the council.

You ex was not entitled to use them it’s fraudulent and theft. The op was the only parent entitled to redeem them as these vouchers are means tested like fsm. I would totally shame him. He is a thief.
