Trying to be more organised so looking for inspiration. I'd like to make a list of things to bulk buy and work out where is cheapest to get them from!

Amazon subscribe and save;toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing tablets, fabric conditioner, dishwasher tablets, cat food and litter, cat worming etc, to name a few. Be warned it's not always cheaper, but I prefer to stock up and not have to check every week what we need for the shop. I also like the quality of the things bulk buy (either Amazon or brands) If you follow hotdealsuk they often have good deals for things one off then it goes up in price. Paid £7 for 24 Nicky toilet rolls for next month yesterday, will end the subscription after paying the cheap price for the first one. Really easy to manage.

I don't have a lot of room to store extra food etc.), so the main thing that I bulk buy are 5L bottles of ethical / environmentally friendly handwash, washing up liquid, and clothes washing liquid. I suppose i do this because the ones I like are hard to find in normal shops, and to save both hassle and plastic. I'm not sure whether it saves money though!

Amazon for catfood and coffee capsules

Amazon for 5l bottles of shower gel - tried the brand in a 200ml, got buy in from the family, and now top that up from the big bottle. Two teenagers spend hours in the shower.

Surely it depends on what you buy/eat?

we make our own bread so bulk buy organic flour in 25kg bags.

we also try and eat organic where it’s not exorbitant so I bulk buy the basics like oats, pasta, bulgar wheat, rice etc as it comes in a bit cheaper and they have a long shelf life.

I store in food storage buckets and transfer to jars as we need it. There are quite a lot of online shops doing bulk buy now.

I’ve also started making my own cleaning materials so also bulk buy white vinegar, bicarbonate soda and Citric acid.

also buy the massive pack of looroll from Aldi but that is about it.

If you're talking about food then...

Eggs - Buy them in packs of 12, 15 or 30, not half a dozen. Half a dozen large eggs works out to around 30p per egg vs when buying as a dozen drops down to 25p an egg. Packs of 15 and 30 are even cheaper per egg. Eggs also last well, even past their best before if stored out of sunlight.

Prepared Veg in the Bags - Don't buy those bags of prepped veg like broccoli, cauliflower, peas and carrots etc that you just stick in microwave.
One bag of prepared broccoli is 150g-160g and costs £1.30 when you can instead just buy a whole broccoli that's 500g and costs only £1.00. You can cut it up yourself, use half straight away for that days dinner, and then freeze the other half.
You can still microwave it with ease in a microwavable tub/dish with a splash of water in.

Crisps - Similar to the eggs, buy in the big multi-packs, but not the pack of sixes. £2.20 for a pack of six Walkers Crisps = 36p per bag.
But buy the pack of twenty Walkers Crisps for £4.89 and it's only 24p per bag.

Price Source: Morrisons online.

Costco: kitchen roll, toilet rolls, washing up liquid, laundry liquid, Coffee beans, dishwasher tablets

Supermarkets: Rice, Pasta, hand-wash refill bag, sugar.

Meat cash and carry: chicken breasts and mince.

Costco. milk, eggs, flour, sugar, rice, pasta, cheese, shampoo, toilet paper…..
anything I need and use.

DuranNotSpandeau · 06/09/2023 15:54

5L shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hand wash from Faith In Nature.
5kg bags of oats, rye, barley and spelt flakes from my local health food shop as I make muesli every day and also use them for flapjacks.
Other than that I shop around and learn what's cheapest in my local refill shop and what's cheapest in the supermarket. Eg one month it's cheaper to buy dried fruit in the refill shop but the next month it's cheaper to buy rice there.
Anything that's on offer and can be cooked/frozen so the 'bargain' is never wasted or goes off before you can use it. Eg Sains organic mince was on offer a few weeks ago so I bought 6 packs and made chilli, bolognaise, burgers and lasagne.
Oat milk (due to allergies). Costs a bloody fortune (and usually goes up 20p+ after any offers) so when it's on offer I will buy a pack of 8 each day for the week of the offer to get 50+ in the cupboard to last until the next time.

I've found cereal bars much cheaper on Amazon than in the supermarket...
