Travel insurance claim.

Hey!

bit confused. Currently going through a medical insurance claim as part of my travel insurance.

they’ve just asked me to send a form to my doctors to release medical records.

my excess £125. I’m under the impression I don’t pay for the excess if the claim is denied?

or regardless do I pay the excess?

any advice would be great!

You shouldn’t pay an excess at all upfront I don’t think.
but if your claim is successful you get the money back minus the excess. So never actually pay it.

earlier this year I had a travel insurance claim denied. I never paid the excess which was I think £50.

Thank you!

I have a feeling my claim will be denied as they’re something similar on my record (even though it’s not a medical condition!)

it’s quite a bill.. (US)

but don’t want to pay the excess if it’s denied as I’ll also have to pay the medical bill.. if that makes sense?

As above. In some parts of the English speaking world the excess is called a deductible. Any claim met, even in full, will be reduced by the amount of the excess.

The only times I've paid it up front is for accident damage repair to a car where it was paid to the body shop when the car was dropped off for repair.

Okay thank you!

So basically if the claim is denied no excess will be charged.
