Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit - confused!

Hi, I was hoping somebody could help me!
My DD is starting nursery soon so was signing up to the government incentive where they add £2 and you pay the nursery but it says it can't be used in conjunction with child tax credits.

We get child benefit so I was wondering are child benefits the same as child tax credits?

Sorry if this is a stupid question!

Thank you

Child tax credits are where people receive help towards their childcare fees via the government. They are usually on lower incomes.

Child benefit is the £80ish a month you get for your child. People earning under £60k are entitled to it.

No child benefit isn't child tax credits

They're different. Tax credits are no longer available for new recipients, anyone who needs benefits goes on to universal credit these days.
Child benefit is for anyone under 50k.

Child benefit can be claimed by anyone regardless of earnings.

However, once a person in the family earns over £50k some or all may need to be paid back due to the High Income Child Benefit Charge. If you get to £60k then it all needs to be paid back.

Perfect - thank you all very much for your help. We get the child benefits but not tax credits so I can continue my application!
